Students Pouring Paint in Zion
Canyon Community Center, Springdale

With the main room draped in tarps, Springdale Elementary students went all out, expressing themselves with paint pouring on 12×12 canvases. Local artist Ham and Nikki Pashazadeh lead students in a messy but wildly successful project. Students worked in small groups with the Dad and Mom duo to create abstract works of art that let each child’s personality shine through. The students used acrylic paints in metallic and mat hues which were layered in small cups. After dumping and swirling the cups of paint onto canvases, the students used a variety of techniques to manipulate the paint. A favorite was the blow torch which added a nebulous effect. Other tools included a hairdryer, straws, wide tooth combs, and craft sticks. Each student artist chose their own combinations of colors and technique.
