Photography from Salt Lake City Group

Z-Arts presents, Threshold: Salt Lake Seven, part of Utah Arts & Museums’ Traveling Exhibition Program. Opening April 1st at the Canyon Community Center, the exhibit features different styles of photography from various photographers who gather regularly to critique each other’s work.

There is no end to photographic possibilities. But in the quest for meaningful images there is a point for each photograph that marks the decision to release the shutter. On one side of that point, there is no image, only imagined possibilities. On the other side is the consequence of our choice — the final truth. This moment might be called the Threshold.

The Salt Lake Seven – or Six or Eight as occasion allows – is a small group of committed practitioners who gather regularly to share ideas and honest criticism. The group was instigated by renowned photographer Kent Miles who had no idea one decade later they would still be meeting and hosting exhibits as a group. “Together, each of us has accomplished something that would have remained outside our grasp had we not been part of SL7” says Miles, “ I hope you enjoy your encounter with our efforts.”
