Drypoint Intaglio Printmaking Workshop

A 3 day intensive introduction workshop on the exciting process of Drypoint Intaglio Printmaking, from image developing through the printing techniques, will be presented May 4th, 5th and 6th, 2012, in Springdale, Utah.

This weekend workshop is the second of two printmaking workshops instructed by Royden Card being offered this spring.  Class size is limited to 8, so please register early. For details, see below.

Workshop will cover:

  • Brief history of intaglio emphasizing drypoint with examples
  • Plate preparation
  • Paper types and preparation
  • Inks, inking and wiping the plate
  • Proofing and printing on an etching press
  • Editioning, curating of prints

Workshop fee includes:

  • 1 copper plate
  • 1 polycarbonate or plexiglass plate
  • 2 sheets domestic etching paper
  • 2 sheets BFK
  • access to tools, inks, solvents, protective gloves, and press

Student Supply List:

  • Pencils (#2 or softer) – pens
  • sketchbook
  • apron
  • Viva paper towels – 1 roll or cotton rags
  • an old phone book
  • ideas for images
  • willingness to get hands very dirty (there is no other way)

Registration fee before April 24th for Z-Arts members is $185/$200 for non-members, materials are included in fee.  After April 24th registration fee for Z-Arts members is $200/$215 for non-members.

Note:  If you register for both Royden Card workshops before March 13th, you will receive a $20.00 discount on workshop registration.
