Guitar Performance 2017 featuring Ricardo Cobo and the guitar orchestra

Z-Arts and the Aaron Shearer Foundation present an evening of classical guitar music solos and a guitar orchestra.

Canyon Community Center, July 1, Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

The first half of the program will a performance by Ricardo Cobo.

Ricardo Cobo is widely regarded as one of the leading virtuosos of the new Classic Guitar generation. He is in high demand as soloist, chamber musician, lecturer and recording artist. Mr. Cobo’s versatility can be heard in his award-winning solo recordings of classical and children’s music – Tales for Guitar – ESSAY, Brouwer Solo Works-NAXOS and Guitar Lullaby – Ellipsis Arts, as well as his orchestral and crossover recordings in collaborations with jazz and classical musicians. Mr. Cobo chairs the classical guitar department at UNLV and is founder and artistic director of the Guitar Las Vegas/Allegro Guitar Series hosted at UNLV’s Doc Rando Concert Hall.

The second half of the program will present the 25 piece guitar orchestra which will include the students and faculty. The program will include pieces by Vivaldi, Mauel DeFalla, Andy McKee and Alan Hirsh.
