Z-Arts presents, “Chinese Meticulous Painting” featuring artist Yidan Guo, Professor of Fine Arts at SUU. The show will opening on July 21st at the Canyon Community Center and will be displayed through August 31, 2015.

Buddhist-monkChinese meticulous painting has a long history, stretching back almost 1600 years. When I was a college student at China Central Acaback-to-thendemy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Beijing, I majored in Chinese Painting precisely because I felt deep love for this type of art! I specifically enjoyed Chinese Figure Painting, because it allowed me to search the soul as it is reflected through a person’s face and body. It is such beautiful thing that I often could feel deeply the beauty and emotions of each individual depicted. Chinese philosophy of painting incorporates the belief that painting is also meditation, a mode of communing with the divine Existence. Through such painting, I find peace and serenity in my soul.

Chinese Painting is painted on Chinese Xuan paper or on silk. Both Xuan paper and Silk fabric were first developed in ancient China. It makes Chinese painting a unique type of art in the world. Chinese meticulous painting hasn’t been well known and recognized by the world though. In my heart, it is as beautiful as Renaissance arts. It’s my honor to bring this beautiful flower to the U.S. and introducing it to American people.
