Inner Donkeys and Houses on Fire:
An intimate and intelligent literary evening
Thursday, March 2nd at 7:00 pm
Canyon Community Center, 126 Lion Blvd, Springdale
“For over ten years, I’ve written a poem a day.
This practice is both my anchor and my kite.”
Slipping Into Something a Little Less Comfortable: The art of changing metaphors: That was the theme of my TEDx talk in Paonia, Colorado, in February. How might you change your life (and the world!) if you could identify and change just one of the metaphors framing your thoughts?
Watch the TEDx talk HERE—and share it with your friends!
Messy. Mysterious. Unruly. The world we live in is anything but easy to pin down. And that, in fact, is what poets have been writing about for centuries. What I love about poetry is that it doesn’t treat the world as if it’s a problem to be solved, rather it honors the fabric of reality: opposition and paradox and a multiplicity of meanings.
This is, perhaps, my favorite invitation in poetry—to keep opening to the world as it is. You feel the call, too? Let’s play.
Rosemerry will be presenting a seminar at Poetry in the Park on Friday, March 3rd. Poetry in the Park is presented by the Zion Natural History Association and the Utah State Historical Society. For more information and to register for that event, click here.
