Z-Arts Holiday Gala with Rick Arroyo and his Band

This year, Z-Arts! will be hosting Las Vegas great, Rick Arroyo and his Latin Jazz Quintet, at the Switchback Grill in Springdale, Utah, for the Annual Gala Event on December 9th, Friday at 6:30 pm. Don’t’ miss this HOT HOT HOT band. Playing all forms of Jazz, specializing in Latin Jazz and Salsa, Rick Arroyo plays piano, drums, congas, timbales, and vibraphone.

Born in the Bronx, New York, Rick Arroyo began playing piano at the age of 9, drums at age 11, congas and vibraphone at the age of 14. He started playing professionally at the age of 15.

Composer and Arranger, Rick appeared in The Coral Reef Lounge at Mandalay Bay every Monday night for four years with his 10 piece Latin dance band, The Latin Percussion Ensemble. He has played at The Blue Note, The House Of Blues, The Rio, The MGM Grand, Bellagio’s, Caesars Palace, The Stardust, New York, N.Y. ( in the George Hamilton Cigar Lounge) and Has performed for President Barack O’Bama, Mauri Povich, Jenny Jones, Mayor Oscar Goodman, Senator Shelly Berkley, Senator Harry Reid, Chip Maxfield, Joe Cortez, and Monti Rock. He has opened for Tito Puente, Willie Chirino, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Jesus Alemany, Cubanismo, David Benoit, Richard Elliott, Michael McDonald, Donna Summers, The Beach Boys, Sammy Hagar and many others. Rick was the Musical Director for the Tom Dane Show.

On the Friday afternoon of the Gala, from 12:30 – 1:15 pm, Rick and his band members will do an outreach program for the Springdale elementary children. They will perform a variety of music—Latin jazz, Afro-Cuban and Brazilian–introducing themselves, their instruments and their music. Mr. Arroyo is planning some “hands on” for the children with a drumming activity.
